First Session: Thursday, September 21st, 2023
1:30-3:30 PM Pacific Time
Class Description:
As a child, one of my most favored books was "The Secret Garden". Next to "The Velveteen Rabbit", it is the most tattered book in my library from all the love it got.
This year-long series offers a class every month. You can sign up month to month. If you miss a month and decide you’d like to take it, it will be available as an on-demand lesson. Each month, our class will begin with a short demonstration and discussion about various facets of keeping an illustrated journal.
After demonstrations, there will be time for working on your own journal during class with help at the ready in an open studio format.
Each month will have a theme and the discussions will build from previous sessions over the course of a year. Each session will be offered independently, no need to commit to a year nor take each class offered.
The only "homework" will be in the form of prompts or ideas to get you started with the notion of holding each other accountable to creating a habit.
First Month - September 21, 2023
Discussion and examples of journal pages and spreads, what type of journals work best for mixed media, how and where to collect quotes, verses and poetry.
Demonstration: painting or drawing while outside in your garden.
Students will have time to work in class and ask questions, especially about setting an intention, committing to regular entries in the journal and tips for getting "unstuck".
A supply list will be sent to students prior to class.
This class is in conjunction with Cloud 9 (cloud9artschool.com)
