MY SECRET GARDEN Keeping a Private Illustrated and Lettered Journal November Session
Class Description:
This year-long series offers a class every month.
You can sign up month to month. If you miss a month and decide you’d like to take it, it will be available as an on-demand lesson. Each month, our class will begin with a short demonstration and discussion about various facets of keeping an illustrated journal. After demonstrations, there will be time for working on your own journal during class with help at the ready in an open studio format.
Each month will have a theme and the discussions will build from previous sessions over the course of a year. Each session will be offered independently, no need to commit to a year nor take each class offered.
The only "homework" will be in the form of prompts or ideas to get you started with the notion of holding each other accountable to creating a habit.
In this session, our discussion will be about incorporating words in our pages. We will talk about the differences between type, calligraphy and lettering and how to choose fonts.
Demonstration: Foraging for fungus: A virtual hunt for mushrooms. Followed by a quick method for recording a mushroom or two in your sketchbook and labeling it with just the right style of lettering
Students will have time to work in class and ask questions, especially about where to find fonts and lettering inspiration. A supply list will be sent to students prior to class.
