Hand Dyed Scarves
The natural dyes used for of each hand dyed scarf have been extracted from local mushrooms, lichen, plants and flowers. The Pacific Northwest is abundant in earthy, beautiful colors and each rich hue brings new possibilities to the fiber artist.
Your scarf has been created without the use of commercial chemicals and while the colors should remain stable, there is always the chance that they will shift slightly over time. These natural changes in intensity or consistency will only add to the natural beauty of your scarf.
The silk dyes used on your scarf have been heat-set for permanence. You can hand-wash your scarf in cool water with mild soap. Be careful not to rub or twist the scarf or let it soak for a long period of time in water.
Hang to dry over a towel on a rack. Press your scarf from the reverse side, using a warm/silk iron setting. Do not bleach or dry clean, the use of harsh chemicals could damage the look and feel of the silk.
While the scarf is colorfast, prolonged exposure to sun light can damage the intensity of colors Kept in your closet when not in use, you will enjoy your scarf for many years.
If you follow the washing and ironing instructions on the tag attached to your hand pained silk scarf, and treat your scarf with love and care, you will have the pleasure of wearing the artwork you have invested in for a very long time.
