Class Description:
In this ON_DEMAND class, you will continue to build on the basics of pastel painting including discussion and demonstrations with hard pastel, soft pastel, pastel pencils and pan pastels to create a painting of a raven from a reference provided as part of the class. In session one you will paint a soft-focus background and learn to balance detail and color in a background without detracting from the subject matter. You will begin blocking in the subject matter. In the second session, you will learn a variety of techniques applicable to birds as a subject matter and begin strategizing your own methods for layering, building and completing a final painting.

Suggested Pre-Requisite: ONLINE BEGINNING PASTEL PAINTING CLASS (* scroll below for details) taken prior to this class, or some experience with hard pastel, soft pastel and pastel pencil. While this class is not advanced, some experience with the medium would be helpful.
